Removal of content/improvments

Resolved
not worth the time

Moxy- 18:35, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

Lately there have been request to delete images on this article. Please provide, why images and content should be removed. Leechjoel9 (talk) 19:53, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

Lets go edit by edit ...removed recent addition like raw data per WP:BRD because......

Moxy- 19:58, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

Filling in on recent changes:
  • I dont see any issues with the removal of the weather box
  • Remove the newly added demograhapics
  • Dont see any issue with removing some of the images. No files are sandwitched at the moment.

Are you suggesting that there aren't any coutry articles with data on here, of course there are. However I dont see why the chart of literacy rate should be removed? And I dont se why the info of largest cities should be removed, its on all country projects. The content in culture section is defintily not that long. Leechjoel9 (talk) 20:09, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

Rationale all outlined in links provided vs Wikipedia:I just don't like it. Articles should modeled on the layout of existing FA articles (See: Canada, Japan and Rwanda.) Moxy- 23:01, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
No reply...removed Moxy- 14:19, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
Leechjoel9@ read over WP:BADREVERT ..you have reverted everyone of my attempts to edit the article. Next time this happens were are going to AN unless you talk to me here.Seeing a pattern here of WP:OWNblock log Moxy- 17:36, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
@Leechjoel9: Hello are you WP:NOTHERE? Moxy- 17:53, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
@Moxy:
  • The revert was gonna be adjusted on my behalf, I was gonna let some of your changes be.
  • Cycling is the biggest sport along soccer which was sourced.
  • Axum monuments are in Ethiopia.
  • The oldest religion in Eritrea is Christianity, and most sources supports Christianity as the biggest religion in the country. You deleted the image of the church. That has not been an issue to this article, nor is it jamming anything.
  • Then you went on to do several other changes who you did not discuss. Leechjoel9 (talk) 17:58, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
I see your not reading any link provided. I added an edit with a summary and a link but you still whole sale reverted. So here were are.
    • First "You added content, without discussing them." pls review WP:OWNBEHAVIOUR
    • Cycling is the biggest sport along soccer which was sourced. Was restored after sources added that i put in a template for you
    • "Axum monuments are in Ethiopia."correct but part of the AKingdom of Aksum...that said a better one can befound over blanking.
    • "The oldest religion in Eritrea is Christianity, and most sources suports Christianity as the biggest religion in the country. You deleted the image of teh church." so swap out one of the images ...text sadwich was a problem in the section.
    • "Then you went on to do several other changes who you did not discus" Wikipedia:Ownership of content#Statements
    Moxy- 18:14, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
  • The ethno-map, ethno-languges map of the country and languages are incorrect, please name one source that mentions that Eritreas regions are divided by languages like Ethiopia. Leechjoel9 (talk) 18:04, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
its source to the tourist site. Could there be a better source sure but it does exist. Moxy- 18:24, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
Not sure what to do I removed some content that i find undue like a bio of a biker that was recently added...this was reverted a few time...so tag the section with a note about why and the tlak and you removed that too....just not sure what to do here. Only ever seen this behaviour at the India article before....giving up pointless not one policy based rebutal.Moxy- 18:29, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
I thought the note in the cyling topic had to do that the accomplishments was personal and wasnt related to Eritrea. But they are, they are awarded points to Eritrea whenever an Eritrean rider competes in an competition. Thats why I removed it the tag. A misunderstanding perhaps. But ill add it again. The maps are from a blog, and historically they languages have been distributed that way, but never seen a source that backs this today. Leechjoel9 (talk) 18:38, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
I give up...not seeing how someone like Mossana Debesai is on the same level as Isaias Afwerki as per WP:WEIGHT as outlined at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Countries " Summary of the country's specific forms of art (anything from painting to film) and its best known cultural contributions. Caution should be taken to ensure that the sections are not simply a listing of names or mini biographies of individuals accomplishments. " Moxy- 21:02, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

NPOV tag in #Human rights?

I removed the NPOV tag in #Human rights because I don't see how saying that the country has a horrible human rights record, which it does, violates NPOV. Maybe it's overly detailed, but that's not a NPOV thing. LilianaUwU (talk / contributions) 02:41, 21 December 2023 (UTC)

Incorrect label for type of government

The article says, "Eritrea is one of the least developed countries. It is a unitary one-party presidential republic in which national legislative and presidential elections have never been held."

I think the word "republic" should be removed or replaced. If (as the sentence states), "national legislative and presidential elections have never been held", then it's not a republic. 74.98.11.205 (talk) 19:51, 7 March 2024 (UTC)

Eritrea‘s history

Eritrea‘s history didn’t only cover Axumite kingdom but also the Kingdom of punt of which Eritrea was part of from 2500BC until 1000bc, the DMT kingdom and Adulite-Aksumite kingdom. Update to Sport section with Biniam Girmay's two Tour de France stage wins

Maybe Wikipedia folks are waiting to see if Girmay wins other stages or holds onto the Green jersey, but this guy is a KING in Eritrea right now. Two stage wins do far! Hopefully it will be updated soon. 2601:14B:C301:3300:E930:66B9:2573:2135 (talk) 10:44, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

for ref 159, currently behind a paywall, but is still available on archive. Depending on which browser you use, you should be able to selectively turn off javascript or other types of scripts or download types for certain subdomains with e.g. uBlock Origin#uMatrix; you can also access the archive.today copy, but nobody knows how perennial archive.today is going to be (it's been running since 2012). Also, this paragraph needs to be rewritten, and could use the source in my previous comment.
Compulsory military service was instituted in 1995. Officially, conscripts, male and female, must serve for 18 months minimum, which includes six months of military training and 12 months during the regular school year to complete their last year of high school. Thus around 5% of Eritreans do military service at Sawa facilities, but also by doing projects such as road building as part of their service.[citation needed]

When the program began, conscripts, male and female, must serve for 18 months minimum, which includes six months of military training and 12 months during the regular school year to complete their last year of high school. The corrections should really first be done in conscription in Eritrea, and then summarised at Eritrean Defence Forces#National service and Eritrea#Military. A possible solution to avoid redundancy is {{excerpt}}. Boud (talk) 09:53, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
I would have added this myself, but the article is protected and I am unable to modify. Mandlerex (talk) 13:41, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
guess I need to make more edits on my account. my ip addr would have enough. oh well. Mandlerex (talk) 13:45, 20 April 2025 (UTC)

The page is totally has wrong informations about Eritrea, especially in statistics of ethnic group and religious issues, The 50% for Tigringa ethnic group is totally wrong and vandalism. The right % is 65%.please Wikipedia Administration correct this wrong information Mindybusiness78 (talk) 18:22, 23 April 2025 (UTC)

@Mindybusiness78: I don't see any mention of the Tigringa ethnic group having 63% of the population of Eritrea. At the moment, it says there is 50% and is sourced here. If you would still like to dispute that statistic, please provide a source for 46%. MJLTalk 19:25, 23 April 2025 (UTC)
