Heff0045 has a massive conflict of interest

I noticed the suspicious edits on this page and realized heff0045 is a UMN student email ID. A quick search via the [U's public directory](http://umn.edu/lookup?SET_INSTITUTION=&type=Internet+ID&CN=Heff0045&campus=a&role=any) shows this account belongs to a Communications Associate in the Office of University Relations for the UMN Twin Cities. You cannot get a more blatant WP:COI than a subordinate of the subject whitewashing with her edits. Addition of "Criticism of Palestinian Activism" section

Dhdarren is insisting that this article include a one-paragraph section titled "Criticism of Palestinian Activism." The paragraph in question:

Kaler has attracted criticism for his opposition to student government resolutions aligning with the BDS Movement at both the University of Minnesota and Case Western Reserve University. In response to CWRU's Undergraduate Student Government passing a resolution calling for investigation into whether the university has financial investments supporting violence against Palestinians, Kaler sent a university-wide email condemning the resolution as "profoundly anti-Israel and profoundly anti-Semitic." Kaler's letter provoked responses from the student body and the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

As written above, this material doesn't appear to meet WP:DUE: There is nothing in this paragraph about this one incident that makes it of sufficient, lasting importance and impact to include in this encyclopedia article. ElKevbo (talk) 21:04, 2 July 2023 (UTC)

Eric Kaler became the president of Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) on July 1, 2021. Since his arrival at CWRU, the university has been guided by his three priorities: to elevate academic excellence, expand the university’s research enterprise and enhance community engagement and impact.

Under his leadership, the university has grown undergraduate and total enrollment to approximately 6,500 undergraduate students and nearly 6,000 graduate and professional students in fall 2024. At the same time, annual research expenditures have grown from about $400 million in 2021 to $554 million in fiscal year 2023. Construction has begun on a new Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building (ISEB), a nearly 200,000-square-foot, $300 million research building located on the Case Quad. These investments have allowed a commitment to hiring 100 net new tenured and tenure-track faculty. The University has also strengthened partnerships and connections with community members. I am not in favor of adding this material to the article at this time. I think we need independent sources that directly link these accomplishments to this individual - I do not think that we should be willing to blindly attribute every good thing that happens at an institution to its most senior leader. --> Chiming in: [X] happened when he was president does not equal [X] can be credited to him as president. Simply listing university growth doesn't demonstrate that [X statistic] is due to be included. We need more information about its copyright status. Presumably his employer still holds the copyright to the image which would mean that we could only use it under fair use. If that's the case, the image will be deleted from the Wikimedia Commons because the commons doesn't allow copyrighted images and the image would need to be reuploaded to English Wikipedia which does allow copyrighted images that are being used under fair use. You'd use the same "File upload wizard" that you probably used the first time (it's where the "Upload file" link in the toolbar takes you) but you'd use the "Upload a non-free file" link on that page. ElKevbo (talk) 17:39, 18 April 2025 (UTC)

Yes, it needs to be added to this article to replace the (copy of this same) image on Commons that will likely be deleted. I went ahead and did that so it's been taken care of. That should do it. It's of a higher resolution than many editors think is permissible for a fair use image but a bot will come along at some point and automatically lower the resolution so you don't need to do anything else.
