Did you know... that "Erde, singe" ("Earth, sing") was a carol in ten stanzas derived in the 19th century from a pastoral lullaby, but appears in the current hymnal in four stanzas, alluding to Christmas only once?

If this hymn is a contrafactum of an earlier work, why not just say so (instead of "a paraphrase and expansion")?
What is the source of the English translation, and how do we know that it is out of copyright?

I translated, and it's not a contrafactum, taking just one little idea + the melody, and I also - if I had remembered the word - don't know how many of our readers know it.
