Much of the text of this article, as of June 2009, is taken from or paraphrased from The Spider Book by John Henry Comstock. Although first published in 1912, this book was considered a seminal work for decades and was reprinted as recently as 1975. I've updated all of the taxons used in the text, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if other parts need to be updated as well.
