This article is a bit rose tinted at the start

Brazil is a brilliant country, I love it, but this article is a bit rose tinted, painting the time of the monarchy as some comparative utopia, compared to neighbouring republics, when there were some revolts and wars in the time of monarchy, and yes arts did well, but it did well after as well. I like how the era is not painted as some awful, Hellish time, that is good, as we get too much of history painting the past as awful, and it is good we honour the past, as we stand on its shoulders, and there were some great things from this era, but surely this article has parts written by royalists, which is OK, but they should not just idolise it as a golden era of the past, there were some good things and some bad things, and the opinionizing should be left to readers to decide, we can decide it was brilliant, but it is not for encyclopaedias to do that, the opinions should be more nuanced, — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C4:B3AD:FF01:81DD:D02B:88C0:DD65 (talk) 12:11, 20 October 2024 (UTC)

Territory of the Empire of Brazil on the Infobox

Hi! I've noticed that the map used on the infobox it's a actually a combination of the map of Uruguay and the map of Brasil on the 19th Century (approximately 1870-1880) and i think it's not correct use it on the article because doesn't represent an accurate map Emilio Paolo Suárez Zambrano (talk) 21:01, 18 October 2025 (UTC)

There never existed a map of the Empire of Brazil - the enormous territories to the west were never defined during the Empire, were not occupied (except by indigenous peoples who cared nothing), and were disputed by neighbouring Hispanic countries. Ii is not the function of an encyclopaedia to invent a map - completely unsourced - and publicise it without comment as if it were a fact. Without sources, anything on English Wikipedia can and will be removed without further discussion. Ttocserp 15:57, 20 October 2025 (UTC)

I suggest including two maps, one for the borders in 1822 and one for 1889, as in the Colonial Brazil article. Also note that when dealing with maps, there's always two sides to consider, since countries often tend to include lands they consider to be their own, conflicting with their neighbors views. This makes it hard to pinpoint Brazil's exact borders at the time before exact treaties were signed, as for Paraguay in 1872, because any one map included here would be, in a way, a statement siding with either stance, unless they somehow highlighted the areas as "disputed". This map it's correct, but includes some territories of Colombia taken by Brazil in 1907 and 1928 on the Amazonas Region, and i think it's not accurate to show the Empire territory (Almost correct except those lands gained to Colombia in the 20th century) Emilio Paolo Suárez Zambrano (talk) 18:24, 20 October 2025 (UTC)

BTW, we do not say, in Wikipedia's voice, this was the Empire of Brazil. We say, such-and-such a source claimed this to be the Empire of Brazil.Ttocserp 18:34, 20 October 2025 (UTC)

Anthems

Someone is trying to pin down the Hymno Patriótico and the Hino da Carta as royal anthems of the Empire of Brazil, providing no source. But frankly, there's no sources for this. It is common sense. They're not Brazilian anthems, nor officially, nor unofficially. The former was composed in 1808 and adopted by the Kingdom of Portugal in 1809. It might have been used by the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves, but the Empire of Brazil was a new polity; it never adopted the Hymno Patriótico. As for the Hino da Carta, it was composed by the future Emperor-King Pedro I & IV of Brazil and Portugal in 1821, but was only adopted in Portugal in 1834; never in Brazil. The anthem was meant to celebrate the 1822 Portuguese constitution which was never in force in the Empire of Brazil. Again, different polities. ETQueEsteveEmVarginha (talk) 19:47, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
