Emmental → Emmental (valley) – Emmental cheese is just as well-known and has more views. "Emmental" should be the title of the disambiguation page. ~2026-53267-40 (talk) 23:03, 4 October 2026 (UTC)
- I don't see why this is necessary. The current titles are adequate natural disambiguation and WikiNav shows that less than 6% (102/1848) of all the people who end up at the valley article click through to the cheese article. Even so, the cheese article gets about five times as many pageviews, which suggests to me that people aren't having trouble finding it . This change would have 1746 make an extra click to find the valley article, while 102 people would still have to make one click to find the cheese article from your new disambiguation page. - What is proposed here is the same as the situation for Cheddar so it is arguable. I'm not sure that it is necessary though. Anybody who comes here by mistake, looking for either the cheese or the administrative district, will see the note at the top and easily find what what they want. The question is whether there are enough other articles with "Emmental" in their name to justify a disambiguation page rather than expanding that note. - I definately oppose to this suggested move. The German word Tal is translated into English as valley. I agree, the opening sentence does say that in English, it's Emme Valley. So if the article were to be renamed it would become Emme Valley (valley) and this does not make any sence whatsoever. If it was to be renamed, we would have to rename, for example, Emmental cheese into Emme Valley (valley) cheese.
