Criticism part

The part with criticism has only German sources. Is this a German hypothesis? The sources are also not known to be reliable. I would remove that part if no other source can be found. Tecardo (talk) 06:17, 5 July 2021 (UTC)

On balance I'd object to removal as it is not credible to me that this matter was not raised in the Austrian Parliament. May be an issue as seems WP:UNDUE and possibly WP:FRINGE and Level one heading removal might be appropraite. The fact that the sources have not been fully embellished is really not great. I'm happy enough with the Epoch Times source at least. Whilst the language is German the nation is Austria (and I assume all the sources orginate from Austria), so Is this a German hypothesis? .. the answer would appear to be definitely no. Thankyou. On a page of this length, a separate section with a first-level header ‘Criticism’ for a statement made in the Austrian parliament gives undue weight WP:UNDUEto this statement .Libby EMAcomm (talk) 13:50, 17 August 2021 (UTC) .... Upon a re-read of this section, and some mulling, I have attempted to refactor the article to remove the Criticism level one section but have determined a re-work was likely in order, also taking into account Libby EMAcomm is a declared paid contributor but respecting Libby's reasonable comments on a BLP. I have felt Cooke's EMA executive director appointment sufficiently important to warrant a level 2 header. I am also mindful I determined Gryffindor's unsummarised contribution where this was added had a copy violation for part of the contribution, occurring through lack of (which I have reverted). However the point an individual made an allegation of Cooke's COI a point that could reasonably be raised in the article and I would be very reluctant to remove it completely. Could we please replace the current text “Starting in 1985, she held various positions in the pharmaceutical industry” with “Starting in 1985, she held various positions in the pharmaceutical sector”.

Comment: After doing this a a seemingly innocent replacement on a paraphrasing basis I notice that on the EMA-about pages uses "sector" whereaas the recovered WHO page used "industry". There are niggles in my mind the WHO source should trump the EMA source, however the EMA may yet be more accurate, and from vague memories of random news these changes may be in the light some scrutinisation controversies raised by one or more entities. Thus this change may be challangeable. Could we please replace ‘she was a board member of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA)’ by ‘ She worked for the European Federation of Pharmaceutical industries and Associations (EFPIA) as Manager of Scientific and Regulatory Affairs from 1992 to 1995 and from 1996 to 1998’?

•  Done: I have slightly jiggled the prose to try to make it fir, with good faith attempting not to change meaning. I have had to change sources location as sources do not seem to be claiming EFPIA is a lobbying association. Could we please add: ‘’She was Principal Administrator in the Pharmaceuticals Unit of the European Commission between 1998 and 2002, with responsibility for inspections, international activities and legislative initiatives. Ms Cooke joined EMA on 1 July 2002 where she worked first as Head of Inspections and then as Head of International Affairs.’’

• Why it should be changed:

There are several factual errors and omissions in the article on Emer Cooke. The information in the section ‘Careers’ omits that during the first 6 years of her career between 1985 to 1991, Ms Cooke also had experience outside the pharmaceutical industry. She worked as a Community Pharmacist (1985-1986) and as a pharmaceutical assessor at the Irish medicines regulatory authority, the Health Products Regulatory Agency (HPRA) in Dublin (1988-1990).

The article also wrongly states that she was a board member of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA). Ms Cooke was a staffer, not a Board Member of EFPIA. This is not a negligible difference as Board Members are appointed by individual companies and set policy positions. The article then goes on to say that Ms Cooke spent eight years at EFPIA. In reality, she worked at EFPIA from 1992-1995; and then again part time from 1996-1998.

The article does not contain any information regarding her career between 1998 and 2016, when she worked in public administration, first at the European Commission, then from 2002 onwards at the European Medicines Agency.
