Opening Paragraph: Ember Swift (born in Burlington, Ontario Canada) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, guitarist, music producer, voice-over artist, writer and translator (Mandarin-English).[1] She has released 11 studio albums, 3 live albums, and 1 DVD project in English, French and Mandarin. She is working on her 14th album release to be staggered in singles releases between 2025-2026.

Career (updated information contained in each paragraph velow): Swift graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in East Asian Studies. In 1997, she and regular band member Lyndell Montgomery (electric violin, bass guitar) began touring North America, Australia and later, New Caledonia. Their live shows featured Toronto-based percussionist and drummer Cheryl Reid. Swift and Montgomery later worked with Michelle Josef (2003) and Adam Bowman on drums and percussion (2003-2010). Reid continued to work with Swift and Montgomery until 2008 as a part-time player, and also worked with Swift alone when she toured North America between 2008-2012. Both Adam Bowman and Cheryl Reid can be seen playing with Ember Swift even as recently as 2025 when Ember Swift returns to do shows in Canada.

In 2008, Swift moved to Beijing and assembled a new band, consisting of Zac Courtney on drums, Paplus Ntahombaye on bass, and Wang Ya Qi 王雅琪 on the traditional Chinese instrument, the erhu. Later, she played with several other musicians that came and went from the magnetic city of Beijing. These musicians included Yoav Zolansky (Israel), Anthony Vanacore (US) and Redis Corbas (Cuba), among others.

In 2014, Swift performed on the stage of the TV competition program “Mamma Mia” and won third place in the national finals.[2] This show was a huge national hit and was broadcast on Saturday evenings throughout China mainland.

Swift is also a voice over artist and writer, and has published work in magazines and literary quarterlies. She appeared as a vocalist on the video game Mobile Legends in 2022. A memoir was scheduled to be released in 2022 but has been delayed in hopes of a release in 2026.

In 2021 Swift released an album entitled Mid-March Meltdown, which was partially co-written with Beijing-based band member Gabriel Beaudoin and mixed with co-producer Tim Abraham. She released three music videos covering tracks from the album.

Between 2023-2025, Ember Swift's fanbase on social media in China has grown considerably, from under 1000 viewers to more than 200,000 followers across her social media platforms: TikTok (抖音）; Red Note Xiaohongshu; WeChat; Bilibili and Weibo.

Personal Life: Swift married Chinese musician Guo Jian, (国囝)[3] and had a daughter in January 2012 and a son in December 2013. She separated from Guo Jian in 2015 and was formally divorced in 2018. After 17 years of living in Beijing, Ember Swift moved with her children and partner (guitarist, Gabriel Beaudoin) to Base-Normandy, France in October of 2025.
