Any one thinking about making the book into a movie?

[edit]

Does any one think it's a good idea to make a movie out of this book?

It was already made into a movie in 1997 with Jena Malone. For An Angel (talk) 13:21, 17 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I removed this-

[edit]

I removed this "The book is also a standard text in high school and university courses on American literature in countries around the world." There are no sources to back this claim up.--70.156.25.179 (talk) 17:33, 27 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think this is wrong.

[edit]

I think the following is wrong-"There is no hint anywhere in the novel as to when exactly the action takes place. It is clearly set after World War II, but it could be set during the 1990s or earlier."

Yes there is a hint,on page 48 when Ellen is talking about living with her teacher, she says- "She lived in the sixties. "She used to be a flower child but now she is low key so she can hold a job." I would think then that the novel is set in the 1970's or possibly the 1980's. I may change change this in the plot introduction.--70.156.25.179 (talk) 19:32, 27 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I am also removing this-"It is revealed in the sequel to take place in the 1975 (closing at Christmas 1975), hence it is likely that the setting of Ellen Foster is 1971 - the time period of Gibbons' upbringing. This means that Ellen was born in 1960, the same year as the author." It is nothing but speculation and the grammar is not very good-"to take place in the 1975"--70.156.25.179 (talk) 19:52, 27 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
