This is a first attempt at submitting to Wiki. My perspective is that of a former banking IT developer based in the UK. I don't pretend to offer anything other than an attempt to open up this subject. Views please on scope and content, links to other Widddki and to external sites.

Another apology: Formatting knowledge is as yet minimal, but I will attempt to improve and apply a decent structure.

Perhaps there's a better location for this stuff?

Views and sympathy welcome.

    • The article reads as though it is a critique of early EDP, where it should be an impartial account explaining what EDP is, and how it was used. Where criticism of EDP implementations is part of the article, it should be balanced against advantages (these machines were installed for good reasons!), and appropriately cited. Reorganization

[edit]

OK, I think I see what as to be done about the multiplicity of "data processing" articles. I wrote a paragraph about the evolution from manual to computerized record keeping to tie all the articles together. The section "Elements of data processing", should probably be rewritten to be independent of the technology used and moved up to follow the lead. I'm puzzled about what to do with the section "Processing", does it even belong here? Peter Flass (talk) 17:02, 26 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
