Suburb or shops?

[edit]

I notice the Press article in the lead is about Edgeware Village not the surrounding residential area. It says at the end "12,250 residents in the surrounding suburb", which is ambiguous. To me the suburb is St Albans and Edgeware is the shopping village. For the area east of the shops along Edgeware road, that I think is also St Albans, but a slightly less desirable area than the Abberley Park area to the west, there might be some appeal in saying it is in Edgeware. The now long gone St Albans swimming pool was in or adjacent to what is the Edgeware Village area. However, the article does say the area is debated, and this is probably just an example of that debating. Roger 8 Roger (talk) 15:20, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, the trouble is that none of the suburb boundaries are defined in Christchurch. What makes it even more complicated is that the St Albans Borough covered more area than what is now regarded as St Albans. I’ve always thought of Edgeware as a suburb but can’t claim to be an authority on it. Schwede66 17:14, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
