More on Ed McMahon's PSAs

[edit]

For possible inclusion on the Ed McMahon Wiki page. In 1983 my wife Averi and I founded The Los Angeles Chapter of The American Medical Support Flight Team, The Angel Flight which was later incorporated as a new 501(C)3 simply called “Angle Flight West.” A charitable organization of private pilots who fly people with medical needs to and from treatment centers free of charge. You will find plenty of collaboration of this on the Internet and even on Wiki. In 2023 Angel Flight West celebrated 40 years of service and 100,000 free flights. Shortly after it’s founding I heard that Ed McMahon had been a pilot during the War and thought he would be sympathetic to our charitable organization. So, I drafted a public service announcement, sent it to him, and asked if he would record a PSA so we could air it on several radio stations. I was pleased when he sent back with a studio quality PSA reading my words exactly as written. Several years later I ran into Ed while both of us were grocery shopping in Malibu (where I live and he had a vacation home) and I had an opportunity to thank him Best, Dennis Torres Dennis Adler Torres (talk) 22:35, 11 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
