Copy edit

[edit]

@Packerfan386 has nominated this article for a copy edit, so I am here to help. If anyone has other questions or suggestions, please leave a comment below or in my talk page User talk:16dvnk. This is my first copy edit, so it is appreciated for any suggestions.

Sincerely,

As for the sources, many of them have empty fields where it should be filled in. Moreover, as of the first eight sources I have gone through, 3 are dead (either browser issue or Cloudflare), which is a little too high. In the long run, it would be better to verify if the sources can be opened. Perhaps it may also be a client issue, I am not sure. I will continue copy editing tomorrow, I will take a break now because I am busy. Thank you. 16dvnk (talk) 14:12, 1 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Wrapping up. The copy edit is complete. I have also seen that the nominator (@Packerfan386) would like to promote the article into B class and also GA. While my responsibility is to copy edit, I have a few (not in-depth) suggestions for B class, based on my memory of the article (I do not have time for an actual review):
  • Find more reliable sources. Currently, the sources cited are either dead or just from 3 major sites. Furthermore, many primary sources are cited (not acceptable by WP:V). Your goal is to find 3-5 reliable sources from other media. WP:BACKWARDS includes a great tutorial of how to do so.
  • I haven't gone into detail, and my memory of the article is fuzzy. However, you should explain the wiki-linked terminology in the article, as if the user cannot click into the links. This is a major requirement for B class.
  • All sources should be properly formatted and attributed. During my copy edit, I noticed many fields were wrong, or straight up blank. I fixed it since it was part of the copy edit, but in the future, please make sure that all fields are proper. This will dramatically reduce your workload.
The copy edit is complete, and I hope my 3 points were somewhat helpful. Thank you very much, and if you have any questions, you can contact me. I am a first time copy editor, so please forgive me for any mistakes. Good luck for your PR and GAN in the future.
Regards,

Thanks for the copy edits! Regarding the sourcing and links, the lack of freely accessible secondary sources is relatively common for smaller US transit agencies. Eau Claire has an immediate metro population of just over 100k, BTW. Finding material without digging through physical archives and/or filing open record requests is difficult. Both of those methods generally bring strong WP:OR risks and can be rather costly. The local daily newspaper is heavily paywalled for current and archive material at ~$300 per yr, so sourcing tends to rely on other regional outlets and government sites. The wikilinks are more or less standard in the transit space for linking area towns and places or transit terms to avoid sidetracking.
For the dead links, everything except that one Historical Society link (can't find an updated link, atm) is loading fine on my end, so that might just be a server/geo-fence or firewall issue. :) Packerfan386beer here 11:05, 6 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
