Move from "Earthset (photograph)" to "Earthset"
[edit]This article's title is the only title that the term "Earthset" appears on. More generally, this article in my opinion seems to be the primary topic for "Earthset". LightNightLights (talk • contribs) 14:34, 7 April 2026 (UTC)

Ohm crater
[edit]There are lots of craters in this photo. I can't tell which one is the Ohm crater. BlueRockThrush (talk) 13:33, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
- Ohm is the one with the chevron shaped ray system. Difficult to recognize in this photograph, but... very easy to detect in photographs of the shadowless lunar surface, such as the first photographs from Artemis II made during the approach of the (gibbous) moon. Brownish coloration of the lunar surface.
[edit]I wonder if this brownish coloration is also noticeable on the surfaces of asteroids (are there color photographs made by landers on asteroids?). Was this brownish coloration of the moon's powdery regolith also observed by the Apollo astronauts during their excursions on the moon's surface? (perhaps during EVA 1, looking eastward, while the sun was still low above the eastern horizon). DannyJ.Caes (talk) 16:53, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
- Was the view through the gold coated visors of the Apollo helmets color-true? (I mean, was there perhaps a visual out-of-balance effect?) (of subtle changes in the perception of colors). On the other hand... Schmitt and Cernan of Apollo 17 observed the orange-ish regolith at the Station 4 rocky outcrop near Shorty crater (perhaps... gold visors raised to have a better look at it). Small amount of the moon's regolith on Earth?
[edit]What I want to know... Is there, among the Apollo program's rocks from the moon, also a canister with lunar regolith? (regolith is the very fine grained surface layer of dust). If so, was the optical effect of the moon's brownish coloration also observed in this small amount of regolith? (a flat surface of regolith, held in sunlight, to observe it in every possible angle of incoming sunlight, and also under pointlike artificial white lightsources, to see all the subtle differences of coloration). - DannyJ.Caes, not to comment on your question but please note, as you edit this and other articles, that 'Moon' (when relating to Earth's Moon) is a proper name and uppercased on Wikipedia. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 22:50, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
- 'Sun' is also uppercased, as is 'Solar System' etc. Randy Kryn (talk) 23:50, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
- O.K., I understand. I think, but I'm not sure, up here in Flanders-Belgium and the Netherlands the celestial bodies such as Sun (Zon), Moon (Maan), and Earth (Aarde) have lowercase characters (zon / maan / aarde). Sometimes it's a bit confusing... DannyJ.Caes (talk) 06:09, 25 April 2026 (UTC)

Attribution and let's try to get the video
[edit]There has been evidence presented that C. Koch took this photo and not Wiseman, and this is backed up by the fact that Wiseman was videoing the event at the same time the photo was taken. That video would be a proper and important addition to this page, and it may be owned by Wiseman since he filmed it from his phone. Clarification on who owns the video? Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 15:49, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
- Provided and placed by Yacàwotçã, thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 11:24, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Randy Kryn I find it unlikely the copyright privately belongs to Wiseman, as he was working for NASA when it was recorded. You may open a deletion request on Commons if you want to make sure with others’ input, I wouldn’t mind Yacàwotçã (talk) 15:21, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks, and I have no interest in deleting it. My concern was that it was filmed on Wiseman's own cell phone (I assume from the information provided) and wondered if that binds the copyright to him alone, so it was just a question. Randy Kryn (talk) 15:34, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
