Removed "update" template for Hayabusa2
[edit]I removed the following template from the "Discovery" section:

The template claimed that the information about Hayabusa2's unsuccessful search for trojans at L5 is out of date. That was over a year ago. No information was provided here on the Talk page about was wrong, and nothing has been updated. The statement about Hayabusa2 does seem to be supported by the provided reference.

Malhoutra2019
[edit]Added references to, and data taken from (Whiteley & Tholen, 1998) the Malhoutra 2019 paper on Arxiv justifying further Trojan searches.
The comments upthread about Hayabusa search - might that be a confused reference to OSIRIS/Rex's search while passing L4 en route to Bennu? I'll look for more info.

Missing info: stability
[edit]Just leaving this here for any future prospective editors. This article is lacking discussion on the stability of Earth trojans and why they are so rare. Various Earth trojan surveys have been performed (see Google Scholar and ADS) and simulations have shown that the Yarkovsky effect eliminates any sub-km Earth trojans within a few hundred million years while collisions can eliminate larger Earth trojans. Earth's orbital evolution and the YORP effect are likely an important factors as well. Nrco0e (talk • contribs) 06:13, 26 July 2026 (UTC)
