[edit]Just a historian's note here, but all GM locomotives built prior to 1941 were built by the Electro-Motive Corporation (EMC). The Electro-Motive Division (EMD) was formed on January 1, 1941 with the merger of the Winton Engine Company with EMC.

Illinois Central renumbering listed here has to be wrong. I have a photograph of a cow calf pair number 1026 A/B and other phtoos of 1029 A/B This would indicate at least 4 units, not 3, and possibly a fifth labeled 1030 a/b? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.140.122.3 (talk) 19:33, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

Generators and Traction Motors
[edit]The majority of NW2s built through the Fall of 1949 are equipped with the D4 generator. The very last few NW2s were built with the D15 generator that was also being installed in the then new SW7 model. All NW2s used the D7 traction motor. --SSW9389 07:37, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
