Validity / Reliability

[edit]

Has there been any external evaluation of the tests? I ask this because I couldn't find any in a quick Web search and because as a native speaker, I question some of the answer options. also, it is a timed test without information for test-takers on how much more is to come. Furthermore, the mechanics of the reading part of the test are awkward: I had to keep scrolling up and down, moving questions and text together.

Are all three tests adaptive (I took the middle one, and didn't see any indication of adaptiveness, but it could have been present in selecting which reading or listening selections came second and third)? The first two are free and easily done online from EF's site, but I didn't see anything there about the third test. 91.215.99.228 (talk) 06:30, 14 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Aha! I found more data. The third test is adaptive. Research by an outside researcher on reliability and comparability (correlation) is presented at https://www.efset.org/research/ . Correlations with TOEFL and IELTS are between 0.52 and 0.69. 91.215.99.228 (talk) 07:18, 14 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
