"a condition"
[edit]Is dwarfism best described as 'a condition,' as it is currently in the first sentence of the article, or as a number of conditions? Many different conditions cause dwarfism, as the article elaborates. The citation for the phrasing is a Merriam-Webster definition which seems to refer to a category, rather than to a singular condition; however, the initial sentence of this article to me implies a singular condition. I may very well be incorrectly interpreting; I would welcome clarification. MScharAAC (talk) 22:55, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
- I agree. This article is a hodgepodge of conditions. Rather than trying to describe them all in one article, it should be a summary of the many conditions and a reference to more specific and detailed articles. The article should be much shorter. The midget article has similar issues, and goes into detail about the pejorative use of the word. The word "dwarf", although a medical term, has similar cultural issues which are barely mentioned.
