• I would link "labor" to Trade union in the lead and body

• One, when young, his father was "laid up", is this supposed to be "once"?
  • Yes.
• McDonald enrolled at Indiana University Bloomington in 1929.[2] He played for the Indiana Hoosiers football team as a guard. I would combine these sentences

• He did not appear in any games for the team that year. and move this sentence to after the "Indianapolis" sentence
  • Though, that would be saying he didn't play in any games for Indianapolis either, but we don't know that.

Overall: Everything seems to check out here, short and sweet article, no problems in sources, neutrality, or copy violations. The hook is interesting in its current state, however, similar to another recent DYKN I reviewed, I do think it would make it slightly more interesting to trim it slightly:

It's not unusual for labor leaders to be arrested in a similar fashion, but this leaves a little more mystery behind it.
