Purpose of this article

[edit]

I changed the tag on this article from Split to Wikify. It may actually need to be moved to Wiktionary. While different fields use the term downgrade, they all use it in essentially the same way. Thus it would be better to make one article on downgrading or move it to Wiktionary. -Acjelen 04:27, 26 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, transwiki is probably appropriate. Practically nothing links here anyway. I'm changing the tag from Wikify to move. Jeeves 04:15, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Use of downgrade for video?

[edit]

I've noticed a lost of TV channels have notes for the resolution similar to this "HD feed downgraded to letterboxed 480i for SD feed". Should this be used that way in a TV channel Infobox? I've changed it for Cartoon Network to simply read 480i letterbox for SDTV feed. I think the rest should be changed as well. Other than those, I've never seen the use of "downgrade" for video formats.MexTDT (talk) 19:41, 8 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Downgrade is not the opposite of update

[edit]

The article says downgrade is the opposite of upgrade with which I agree, but it conflates upgrade with update. The transitory implication is that downgrade is the opposite of update. No. Interestingly, I can't think of a word that is the opposite of update. Downdate? Stevebroshar (talk) 09:16, 22 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
