Request to update outdated biographical information — disclosed conflict of interest

[edit]

Request to update outdated information about Dougie Wallace

I’m Dougie Wallace, the subject of this article, so I have a conflict of interest. I’d appreciate an independent editor reviewing these corrections and additions. I’ve provided proposed wording and sources below.

  1. Current location

The opening describes me as based in east London. My current biography states that I am based between Glasgow and London.

Suggested wording: “Dougie Wallace, also known as Glasweegee, is a Scottish photographer from Glasgow, based between Glasgow and London.”

Source: Official biography. This is my own website, supplied as a primary source for my current location.

  1. Outdated length of residence

The sentence “He has lived in Shoreditch, east London, for 15 years” presents a historical figure as current.

Please replace it with: “Wallace lived and worked in east London for three decades.”

Source: Official biography. If a secondary source is required, please remove the outdated present-tense duration until suitable sourcing is available.

This request concerns his residence, not the separately documented duration of the Shoreditch photography project.

  1. Books and missing publication

The introduction says five books, although the article already lists six. Bus Response is also missing.

Please remove the fixed book count from the introduction and add this entry under Books by Wallace:

“Bus Response. Dewi Lewis Publishing, 2021.”

The book documents London during the Covid-19 pandemic, focusing on the city’s buses and their passengers.

Sources: Dewi Lewis Publishing, Elephant’s February 2021 coverage and Photo London’s book listing.

Date clarification: some later biographies give 2022, but Elephant explicitly identifies publication as February 2021, supported by contemporary Photo London coverage.

  1. Missing award

Please add under Awards:

“2016: Street category, series winner, Magnum Photography Awards, for Harrodsburg.”

Source: Official Magnum Photography Awards 2016 results, published by LensCulture.

This identifies the specific category and does not imply an overall competition win.

  1. Civilization exhibition

Please add under Exhibitions:

“2023: Civilization: The Way We Live Now, Saatchi Gallery, London, 2 June–17 September. Group exhibition.”

Source: Saatchi Gallery’s exhibition record, which names Wallace among the participating photographers.

  1. Television date

Please review the 2016 date: the Guardian lists Wallace’s BBC Four episode for 16 March 2017.

Source: Guardian television listing.

  1. Recent published work

Suggested addition to Life and work:

“His Guardian photo essays include Taylor Swift fans (2024), Oasis fans (2025) and Scottish skiing weather permitting (2026).”

Source: Guardian contributor archive.

Please assess these additions for relevance and appropriate weight. I’m happy for an editor to adjust the wording and retain the existing material and references where appropriate.

Thank you,
