Down the Road Apiece
[edit]House of Blue Lights was written around 1953. In 1940 Don Raye wrote a song called Down The Road Apiece which is basically a rewrite of House of Blue Lights, almost word for word. Chuck Berry recorded it, as did Chuck Miller, Amos Milburn, Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and others.
