I just created this new page on the Doherty amplifier. Definitely could use expansion on it, also on the William H. Doherty inventor's page. This was an important RF amplifier in the early days of radio broadcasting, and I think it deserves its own page. Erzahler (talk) 17:32, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
This is an important amplifier - it is the mainstream of today's designs still and for 5G. But the page does not currently clearly explain the basic principle of the amplifier: it immediately dives into specific implementations. A link to current dumping would help ? Possible plagiarism
[edit]I checked this article for possible copyright violations, and a violation check indicates a suspected violation. The indicated source is an article in a reputable professional magazine:
- Pengelly, Raymond; Fager, Christopher; Özen, Mustafa (February 2016). "Doherty's Legacy". IEEE Microwave Magazine. pp. 41–5.
The IEEE article is dated after the additions here, and it does not mention Wikipedia. In my view the wording in these articles is too close and and suggests plagiarism, either in our article or in the IEEE article or in both, see Wikipedia:Plagiarism. Possible explanations are:
- The authors of the IEEE article may have plagiarised this Wikipedia article. The IEEE Microwave Magazine has a high reputation, and this seems unlikely.
- The duplicated text may have come from a common source, possibly one of the sources cited in this article (which I can't find online).
- The Wikipedia editor may be one of the authors of the IEEE article. This does not resolve this issue as the uncredited use of Wikipedia content is not allowed, see Wikipedia:Reusing Wikipedia content.

- I worte new sections for all but "Successor broadcast developments." Should be no plagairism in the new material. Somebody should go work on the remaining, it is also unsourced, and needs to find product data. WhaleFarm (talk) 22:06, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
