Primary sources that remain are used only for uncontroversial personal facts per WP:ABOUTSELF (current location, professional affiliations, personal website). The article has also been restructured into thematic sections and the lead rewritten to better reflect the subject's significance.

Additionally, I have upgraded the article class from Start to C-class across all WikiProject banners, reflecting the substantial improvements made: seven thematic sections, multiple independent citations, BLP flags removed, and lead rewritten.

I have also upgraded the Journalism WikiProject importance rating from Low to Mid. Searls has had a 25-year editorial career at Linux Journal, co-authored The Cluetrain Manifesto which Advertising Age described in 2006 as prescient about the future of media and marketing, authored The Intention Economy (Harvard Business Review Press) which addresses the advertising model underpinning journalism, and gave a TEDx talk specifically on journalism's crisis in the digital age. Thomas L. Friedman described him as "one of the most respected technology writers in America" in The World Is Flat. Happy to discuss if others feel Low remains more appropriate.
