COI edit request: article balance and due weight
[edit]![]() | This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. Per WP:CHANGEXY. |
Hello. I am Derek Bierman, CIO at Doane University. I have had this Wikipedia account for many years but have not been active recently. Because I am affiliated with the university, I have disclosed that conflict of interest on my user page and am not editing the Doane University article directly.
I am requesting review from uninvolved editors regarding article balance and completeness.
The current History section includes a 2020 library exhibit/free-speech controversy. I am not disputing that the event received coverage, nor am I asking editors to remove sourced criticism simply because it is critical. My concern is whether the current wording and placement give this single recent event disproportionate weight in a relatively short article about an institution founded in 1872.
Would uninvolved editors be willing to review whether the current treatment aligns with WP:DUE, WP:NPOV, and WP:RECENTISM?
Separately, I would like to propose neutral, sourced additions that would improve the article’s completeness, including academics, accreditation, campus history, athletics, enrollment/student profile, and recent institutional developments. I can provide proposed wording and independent sources for editor review.
Thank you. Debierman (talk) 14:15, 7 May 2026 (UTC)
