Renaming

[edit]

The AEC recently decided to rename this division to Cooper, as stated at https://www.aec.gov.au/media/media-releases/2018/06-20.htm. The division isn't going to be "abolished" as the article currently states. I tried to fix it, but was reverted twice by User:The Drover's Wife. There's no alternative reference that says the division is going to ba abolished. Horatio (talk) 11:31, 27 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please see the lengthy discussion regarding this at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Australian politics and respond there rather than creating a new discussion. There is a longstanding consensus and practice across all federal and state electorate articles that we create new articles in this situation, which a majority of editors who responded support maintaining. You could have pointed me there instead of just reverting with no reason. But anyway, Wikipedia should reflect reality, not just make stuff up because it's convenient. The wording should be that the division is "renamed", because that's how the AEC describes it, regardless of whether a new article is created for the new name, or if this one is moved.
