I did some work expanding this stub, it's a little messy right now so I will hopefully be adding to it and fixing some things over the next few weeks. A "distributed key" also has a meaning related to database design. Unfortunately I only use them, and don't think I could provide a formal enough definition to merit introduction of a disamiguation page / new section of this article.
