Neutrality dispute

[edit]

@Jdcooper: Why is this article's neutrality being disputed? Jarble (talk) 15:38, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Seems to be almost entirely promoting the ideas of one man, Mark Andrejevic. Jdcooper (talk) 13:11, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
A Google search shows that there are other academics writing about this topic, whole papers focusing on it, but none of them are mentioned here. Needs attention from someone who understands this kind of thing! Jdcooper (talk) 01:02, 11 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
The tags aren't needed at all. Lots of articles have problems with scope. Viriditas (talk) 03:08, 15 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
This article is almost entirely sourced to Andrejevic's work, which is the topic of the article. It needs rewriting with independent, secondary sources, otherwise it is a breach of no original research and should be deleted. Jdcooper (talk) 19:48, 19 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Got it. Viriditas (talk) 21:32, 19 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
A quick survey of the literature shows dozens of authors. I do not see any evidence that the neutrality is in question, that there is potential OR, or that it doesn't meet the notability guideline. I do see evidence that it relies excessively on references to the original author. I still don't see the need for 2 out of 3 of the tags. Final note: the term pre-dates Andrejevic's usage in the literature by at least five years and was used extensively prior to Andrejevic, so the notion that this promotes the idea of one man is in error. As I said previously, the problem is scope, not neutrality, original research, or notability, which is why I still object to those tags. Viriditas (talk) 01:10, 20 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Viriditas: If the article relies solely on primary sources to the original creator of the idea being discussed in the article, that means it is original research by Andrejevic. Wikipedia articles require at least two independent secondary sources to establish that it's a notable concept, this has none yet. Maybe you could gather links to some of the authors you found on this talk page, that would help clarify the situation and tempt future expanders of this article? Agreed. Thanks for replying. Viriditas (talk) 22:34, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
