I think editors are confused on what is illegal and what isn't. The lede straight up claimed UN ruled it as Illegal for UK to have an administration there. Technically they said UK has an obligation to end adminstration as the decolonisation process of Mauritius was not lawfully completed. It may seem like the same thing but it's not precise nor accurate. It is advisory only; where the UK is merely under an international legal obligation in principle. In international law, an "obligation" is not the same thing as a legally enforceable prohibition. The difference is subtle but important and it shouldn't be blurred in lead. So I instead added in nuances on precisely what RS says, to avoid overstating, and cited . JaredMcKenzie (talk) 08:05, 22 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
