I have emailed several colleagues whose work is referenced on this page, asking for help in finishing it. Of most concern is the uneven treatment of the various experimental areas in the Impact section. Next would be readability issues, errors of all types, and clunky figures. Thanks. Am I the only one who thinks the use of "hereafter referred to as the effect" is weird?

[edit]

Honestly, it makes the article feel like it was just written by someone who doesn't really want to write the word "Dick" and is trying to draw attention to that.

It seems to me like, whether or not we want to actually write "Dick effect" in full in some/all cases in the article, that "hereafter..." text is still unnecessary either way? ~2025-37633-43 (talk) 06:54, 1 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

I agree strongly that just writing "the effect" is not only not stylistically consistent with the rest of wikipedia, but actively makes the article harder and more confusing to read. I think this should be changed, and I'm happy to do it if there are no objections. This page is getting more attention thanks to the recent work in neutral atom quantum computing that calls out the Dick effect. LinkUCSB (talk) 06:45, 13 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
