This whole page is very badly written, it's extremely difficult to read. 82.32.160.97 (talk) 04:46, 2 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Date of Birth

[edit]

The Albion Historical Society has him born in about 1879. The page has him working at mine in 1892, when he would have been 13, and working for a cattle company in 1895, when he would have been 16.

However, a 1963 newspaper article states that in the mid 1890's he was about 25 years old and that he had stories about being in Bolivia in 1878 and being promoted to general. The article also states that he had a youthful appearance.

There is a 1973 article that gives his birth as August 12, 1963, so let's go with that. Cxbrx (talk) 22:28, 8 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

An August 1970 article (part 1), (part 2) states that there is controversy about Davis' birthday and place. One source says that he was born in 1865 in Kentucky, the other says that in a 1942 interview in Boise, Davis said that he was born in 1863 in New Jersey.
