Criticism section

[edit]

I have dispersed the criticism section to other parts of the article (per WP:CRIT) but I am not convinced that it is an improvement. The history section is long and devoid of any themes e.g. acquisitions, management changes and media criticism. If anyone wants to have a go at this, please do so. Views welcome. History - grouping vs chronology

[edit]

So, further to @Dormskirk's suggestion, I did an overhaul of history to group thematically, because chronology just becomes a horrible laundry list, and on an organisation with such complex history it just doesn't work, and the linkage between elements breaks - e.g. the acquisition vs disposal and so on.

I believe that this is the only way to structure history, and not saying it can't be improve upon, but @john_baost came and moved it to chronological.

I've reverted that, because I think it still doesn't work, so here we are on talk to discuss. OwainDavies (about)(talk) edited at 14:54, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Mr Black - incorrect categorization

[edit]

Under both Diageo#Non-alcoholic expansion and Diageo#Brands, Mr Black coffee liqueur is listed as a non-alcoholic brand. This is incorrect, all Mr Black products are alcoholic beverages (liqueurs, broadly), and should be included under the correct headings. 2603:3024:1DB9:4100:341F:7FAF:8D58:981 (talk) 00:39, 24 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

If you think something is wrong, you should WP:BEBOLD and fix it, especially if you can cite a reliable source. – notwally (talk) 01:26, 24 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Extensive deletions

[edit]

A huge amount of well-sourced historical information has been removed from the article without discussion. It has been replaced by some primary material such as management and financials straight from the company's website. Any discussion on any such extensive changes should take place here. I have now restored most of the more important historical activity (positive and negative) and ensured that, as far as possible, the article is sourced from independent sources. Dormskirk (talk) 20:19, 18 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Circular Reference in History

[edit]

it appears that in the history section the reference to the Diageo creation through the Guiness merger has a reference to https://www.gracesguide.co.uk/Diageo, however that site references this Wikipedia page? I would prefer to see a news source here. There are some articles in the Guardian archives that discuss the merger, such as : The Guardian London, Greater London, England · Thursday, November 27, 1997, page 22
