Is the deuce really the second card??

No, it isn't. 2 is the second number in the 1-13 interval, but cards don't go from 1 to 13; they go from 2 to 14. I fixed the statement at the top of the article to saying that although the card's label/mark is 2, its rank is 1 (meaning it's the first, not the second, card of its suit; the second is the 3; the ace (14) is the last.
