DESIGAR /Desikar-Name of the caste or honourific title?

[edit]

I am of the considered opinion that the name "Desigar/Desikar" is a Honourific Title and not the name of the Caste, just as the title "Pillai " is applied as the honourific name for some of the Vellalar castes, the title "Mudaliyar" is applied to the Thondai Mandala Vellalar Caste and Senkunthar Caste. The name of the caste of the Desigar/Desikar should be "Pandarathar" and the name of the caste of the "Kurukkal" of South Districts should be "Archakarai Vellalar". I welcome discussions on ther above subject. Bavanan (talk) 05:54, 9 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Notability

[edit]

Whether a caste, a community or an honorific, I am struggling to find any reliable sources for Desikar/Desigar. I'm tempted to nominate for deletion now but will give it a bit longer.

If someone has some worthwhile content for this article, now is the time to add it. - Sitush (talk) 20:23, 25 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
