This page was created after following a red link from the Open Archival Information System page, which references this term in its primary definition. I believed it required definition and consulted the OAIS ISO standard as well as the literature on the subject (which refers back to the standard). While this is a stub, I hope that it can assist people attempting to learn about the OAIS and archival principles in general.
