editorial notes

[edit]

The names of Gonzalez-RIvas and Larsson, and the book title should appear in the references only, therefore they were removed from the text.

There are many additional related algorithm publications in the 60s and 70s that were not mentioned including Stewart himself (Sargent and Westerberg, 1964; Steward, 1965; Norman, 1965; Ledet and Himmelblau, 1970; Warfield, 1973). No special reason to mention only Christopher Alexander. Here is a (partial) list

  • Steward DV (1981a) Systems Analysis and Management: Structure, Strategy, and Design. Petrocelli Books, NJ
  • Steward DV (1981b) The design structure system: A method for managing the design of complex systems. IEEE Trans on Eng Manag, 28:71–74
  • Warfield JN (1973) Binary matrices in system modeling. IEEE Trans on Sys, Man and Cybernetics, 3: 441–449

The hyperlink for Reference 10, points to a 2009 Journal of Scheduling article "A random generator of resource-constrained multi-project network problems" and not the intended reference.
