Did you know ... that the Clop DYK hook gets mentioned in the Wikipedia Discord server basically every 5 minutes? I notice you're stepping in for NRP with nominating. You have 85% authorship, so this obviously isn't a problem. Setting up shop. Travis Mulch (talk) 01:27, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- My schedule will be a little less busy after this weekend so I can help on some stuff if needed, so I'll put myself down as a co-nominator if that's okay with you Silvers Rayleigh (since I nominated the article to begin with). NRP (talk) 02:26, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- I have no problem with both of you co-nominating & answering questions as long as you attribute/note it somewhere. Travis Mulch (talk) 02:27, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- Cool, I'll do that right now. Good luck with the Toby Fox FAC btw, I'll try to give it a review since Undertale has been one of my favorite games since I was a little kid :) NRP (talk) 02:29, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks. You wouldn't believe the frustration I've been going through with it. Travis Mulch (talk) 02:30, 27 September 2026 (UTC)

Also, "dominator"?Travis Mulch (talk) 03:36, 27 September 2026 (UTC)- ...This coming from the person who didn't notice they said "isn't obviously isn't", actually... Travis Mulch (talk) 03:37, 27 September 2026 (UTC)

Comments
[edit]Here's somewhere to hook the comment section from. Travis Mulch (talk) 01:27, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- Earwig's Copyvio Detector reports 44.4%, though I can safely chalk these up to false positives due to detected instances of the text "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic". Travis Mulch (talk) 01:29, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- Text is properly attributed to authors throughout, where needed. Criteria 2d pass. Travis Mulch (talk) 02:14, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- General review of the article's past 500 edits shows 12 reverts. These can be reasonably assumed to be vandalism/unsourced edits and not accuracy disputes, also noting the article's not currently protected. Criteria 5 pass. Travis Mulch (talk) 01:33, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- Article uses 3 fair use images: infobox, history, history 2. Multiple other non-free images were removed by NRP, and previous 15.ai voice clips were removed as well. These are good changes. The infobox image & Lauren Faust's sketch are acceptable uses, though I'm questioning the first History image (series premiere appearance) since it's basically the same as the infobox, barring minor details. The article's non-free images have acceptable rationales. Noting images do not have alt text. Criteria 6a pass, with 6b pending reply. Travis Mulch (talk) 01:41, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- Non-reliable web sources (per Cite Unseen) I want to address:
- The Daily Dot (c. 2) is "considered fine for citing non-contentious claims of fact" per WP:RSP. Acceptable.
- BTVA (c. 7) has a green checkmark next to Tabitha St. Germain's name, so is reliable per WP:A&M/ORS (which is good enough/equivalent to animation). Acceptable.
- I have questions about CBR (c. 13). CBR is a Valnet outlet, and is "unreliable" in WP:VGS (for video games). Valnet outlets tend to be marginally reliable, or generally unreliable, for most topics. Could you explain if/why CBR's use is defensible?
- Lifehacker (c. 14) should be fine, where it's been stated "later discussions highlighted that the site has (some) editorial oversight." per WP:NPPSG. Acceptable.
- All other sources are cited to reliable sources or journal articles. Criteria 2b pending CBR explanation. Travis Mulch (talk) 01:58, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- There are some things in the article's format I have issues with. Is citing all 9 seasons in the "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" section necessary? "Equestria Girls alternate version" doesn't warrant a separate section, and it's been this way for a while. Connelly (2017) currently links to page 105 (well outside of the cited 125-144), with the key words "bridle gossip" in the Google Books search term, for some reason? It'd also be way better if the Connelly citations were cited to page numbers. Criteria 1b and 2a pending explanation. Travis Mulch (talk) 02:08, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- I have some minor WP:NPOV complaints. Lead mention of Derpy as the brony mascot is unattributed. The way events attributed to Connelly are phrased, particularly with the death threats against Yamino, Amy Rogers analyzing the word "derpy", and the "Bronies who were upset" analogy, can seem kind of editorializing. There's also not a lot of post-2012 retrospective analysis, which, y'know, that's understandable. These are all easily fixable. Criteria 4 passed (conditionally due to ease of fixes). Travis Mulch (talk) 02:26, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- @Travis Mulch: Thank you for taking the time to review! Sorry for the late response, I'll get to these if @NRP doesn't get to it before I do. Silvers Rayleigh (talk) 19:28, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
- No problem. Feel free to hook your comments at the bottom, I'll ask that you either reply to the held criteria in their respective comments or just down below. Travis Mulch (talk) 19:29, 30 September 2026 (UTC)

- Criteria 1a fail (conditionally until copyedit). There are quite a few errors, here's what I saw during a quick read-through:
- Where does the name "Bubbles" come from? It's never mentioned. (Lead)
- "become a favorite" -> "became a favorite" (Lead)
- "This decision itself generated further controversy" -> We discuss two decisions here. Which decision? (Lead)
- (from which her catchphrase "I just don't know what went wrong!" spawned) -> Missing period, "spawned." (MLP:FiM)
- "In later seasons, Derpy's appearances becomes more sporadic." -> "..appearances become more..." (MLP:FiM)
- "...altered to remove Rainbow Dash saying her name and modified her voice..." -> remove/modify or removed/modified (MLP:FiM)
- "Following the episode, fans collectively developed" -> We just discussed a forum post, not an episode. Ambiguous phrasing. (History)
- production team "avoided hiding ... before her return" -> "Avoided hiding" is weird from Miller, needs clarification. (History)
- Switching tenses is inconsistent. "In the first season, Derpy appears primarily..." Her association with muffins is established..."; "For the second season, Derpy gains scripted-character status..."; "...becomes a Where's Waldo-type easter egg..." Travis Mulch (talk) 02:52, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- Singular, small OR violation: attribute "described as a "radical" decision" to Licari-Guillaume. Criteria 2c passed. Travis Mulch (talk) 02:57, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- To the article writers (given I'm not the Derpy Hooves expert), can you confirm the article is broad in "focused" aspects? Some specific things:
- FiM ran from 2010-2019, where does "2021" come from?
- Does the English-language "derp" term have any relevance internationally?
- Outside of random products, was Derpy part of any merchandising campaign?
- Any further extended ties to the Background Six in "See also"?
- Criteria 3a pass, with 3b pending explanation. Travis Mulch (talk) 03:12, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- Placing review on hold until 1a fixes from nominator(s) are made, and after answers for pending criteria are given. Afterwards, will spot check five random articles (5/21, or ~25%) for accuracy, and re-review prose. Travis Mulch (talk) 03:18, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- @Travis Mulch: I'll get on this within the next few days if Silvers Rayleigh doesn't. NRP (talk) 02:56, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
- Heard. Ping me when one of you two address pending criteria and/or finish prose mistakes. Travis Mulch (talk) 03:34, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
