Personal life: what I left out of the zh.wikipedia section, and why
[edit]The Chinese Wikipedia article (zh:鍾培生) has a section "感情生活" (romantic life). I have carried over only the 2026 marriage, which HK01 and Sing Tao Headline report as fact. I deliberately left out two things and would rather record the reasoning here than have it look like an oversight.
1. A list of eleven women he was "rumoured" (緋聞) to have dated. The zh section cites two articles published on the same day (5 March 2026), one from HK01's entertainment desk and one from Weekend Weekly (新假期), a leisure magazine. Both are listicles assembled from Instagram posts and YouTube clips after his engagement was announced. Every item is hedged as rumour (傳出 / 被指), several of the women publicly denied any relationship, and Cheung denied several himself. Three of the eleven are low-profile people identified only by a first name or an occupation, and one item concerns a police report. To me this is what WP:BLPGOSSIP asks us to keep out ("whether the material is being presented as true; and whether, even if true, it is relevant to a disinterested article about the subject"), what WP:NOTGOSSIP describes, and what the lead of WP:BLP means by "not a tabloid". Naming the low-profile people would also sit badly with WP:BLPNAME. For context, zh.wikipedia's own source-rating list rates New Media Group, which publishes Weekend Weekly, as "應替代" (to be replaced where possible) (zh:Wikipedia:來源評級/列表/新傳媒集團).
2. A 2022 public falling-out with actress Candy Yuen. This was covered by several Hong Kong entertainment desks (HK01, HKET TOPick, Ming Pao, Sing Tao, Oriental Sunday), so it is verifiable. I still left it out because: (a) it began as an Instagram post by one party; Cheung published a rebuttal within days, and Yuen said in December 2022 that she should not have used such harsh words, so any fair version needs all three parts with attribution (WP:BLPBALANCE); (b) it has no connection to what he is notable for, so in a short biography it would be undue (WP:PROPORTION; WP:NPF: "include only material relevant to the person's notability"); and (c) the zh section reproduces only the accusation, which I did not want to import (WP:TRANSLATE: "If portions of an article appear to be low-quality or unverifiable, use your judgment and do not translate those portions").
