Fukuyama quote

Is Fukuyama's quote about "getting to Denmark" due for the lead? I would understand including it within the article body, but I feel like it's a bit WP:UNDUE and too detailed to include a relatively old phrase from one political scientist in the lead, which is supposed to summarize the contents of the article body. Greenland

If the map of France displays French Guiana in green color as a part of France, why isn't Greenland displayed the same way as a part of Denmark? Gigman (talk) 22:22, 8 January 2026 (UTC)

Because this page is about only a part of the Kingdom of Denmark. The latter does show Greenland shaded in green. GoodDay (talk) 22:30, 8 January 2026 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 17 April 2026

The sentence at the end of the Climate section currently reads: “In the middle of summer, it is light all night long.”

This appears to be misleading in the context of Denmark proper. While summer nights are very short and remain in twilight, it is not fully light all night at Denmark’s latitude. Continuous daylight (midnight sun) occurs only in areas north of the Arctic Circle, such as parts of Greenland. ~2026-23636-22 (talk) 08:30, 17 April 2026 (UTC)

Tone & content re: Inuit

Firstly, the page as a whole would benefit from an Indigenous peoples section under History (see Canada and U.S.). Short of that, this passage (appearing verbatim in Demographics: Population and Culture: Human Rights) could use an update:

"From the 18th century up to the 1970s, the Danish government (Dano-Norwegian until 1814) tried to assimilate the Greenlandic Inuit, encouraging them to adopt the majority language and culture. Because of this "Danization process", some persons of Inuit ancestry now identify their mother tongue as Danish."

Given that the surrounding content re: Inuit in Human Rights is sourced and more focused, this passage should be removed from that section entirely. It seems largely inappropriate for Population as well: lacking available demographic information, any citation, and using a non-neutral tone.

- Change "From the...1970s" to "Though Greenlandic Inuit are recognized by the Danish government as an indigenous people and they receive Danish citizenship, they have no specific legal status or rights." Source: Denmark and Greenland, Mondo Internazionale.

- Change "tried to assimilate...and culture" to "implemented forced assimilation techniques including the removal of children in the 1950s, and sterilization of women into the 1970s." Sources: Speaking Up for Women, UNRIC; A Failed Social Experiment, CNN; Denmark's Dark History, El País.
