Candidates for deep lobbying include:

  • Arthur Hailey, with his book Overload (1979), which preempted the 1970s utility crisis with an industry sponsored POV in fiction form
  • Michael Crichton, with his book State of Fear, which was published exactly one day after the 2004 United Nations Climate Change Conference began, promoting an industry sponsored POV of climate denial in the form of fiction that drowned out coverage of the 2004 climate conference and climate issues for years, with many proponents coming to believe that Crichton's fictional book was a real explanation of the climate crisis
