Talk:Decomposed granite

In the extreme, DG becomes sand and clay, not gravel. The gravel will decompose to sand eventually, will try to fix accordingly. Blkutter (talk) 16:05, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

A question about the mechanism (I'm lazy, because I *could* look this up). Which weathers into clay faster: feldspar or mica? Also, what sorts of environments are conducive to decomposing granite. I believe the granite decomposes due to weathering in marine and other environments, the environment will affect the products of the decomposition. Blkutter (talk) 22:25, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
