Conversion

[edit]

There is an unusual conversion: 1 D ≈ 3.1623×1025 (J·m3)(1/2). All other conversions have units of (charge)*(length), but this is (energy)1/2*(volume)1/2. Some non-obvious constant has clearly been applied, and this article would benefit from indicating how this conversion has been achieved (either through discussion or a reference). Start with the cgs definition: 1 D = 1E-18 cm^2.5*g^0.5/s. Square both sides: 1 D^2 = 1E-36 cm^5*g/s^2. Multiply by (0.01 m/cm)^5 and (0.001 kg/g) and (1 J/(kg*m^2/s^2) to give 1 D^2 = 1E-49 J*m^3. Take the square root of both sides to give 1 D = 3.16228E-25 (J*m^3)^0.5. 168.149.243.111 (talk) 20:11, 17 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
