loan stock?

[edit]

I've worked in corporate finance for 15 years (ibd, corp dev, pe) and have never heard the term 'loan stock.' I'm not an authoritative source, obviously, and it may be more commonly used in other english-speaking countries, but doing some googling, it seems to refer to specifically to convertible debt. That is absolutely not a term generally interchangeable with 'debenture.' I understand some debentures can be convertible (and don't object to the discussion that follows in the article) but having the intro suggest the terms are equivalent and having "loan stock" redirect to "debenture" feels very confusing / misleading to me. My suggestion is remove the term from the intro and get rid of the redirect. ~2026-30461-7 (talk) 04:37, 15 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
