- Are there any other sources for this? Self-published sources such as blogs generally have very limited use in Wikipedia. PaulT2022 (talk) 16:41, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
Debanking of Muslims in the US
[edit]@DesertVulture, the citation references a chapter, not a single page. The US part starts at the end of the linked page (last paragraph, the one mentioning Citibank) and continues on the next page – https://www.google.co.uk/books/edition/Systemic_Islamophobia_in_Canada/oQC9EAAAQBAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=%22Moving%20Muslim%20Money%22&pg=PT112&printsec=frontcover PaulT2022 (talk) 14:57, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
clarify what closing actually means?
[edit]When a bank "closes" an account do they freeze\confiscate the funds or do they force the account holder to withdraw, then close? It feels like the term is being used both ways. Please clarify. 140.32.183.250 (talk) 20:54, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
- i realize you are asking for the article to be modified for clarity and I'm not helping in that respect. I just wanted to mention I just read in the news in the past week about somebody who got a letter from their bank (iirc, UK) and were told they had 30 days to close their bank account and collect their funds. after that, the account would be closed and the funds would not be retrievable. I'm sure this type of thing varies by municpality, just thought I'd mention this "middle way" possibility for completeness. 98.7.199.103 (talk) 21:50, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
Title of Article - "Debanking"?
[edit]If the more common spelling is "debanking," as the lead says, then shouldn't that be the title of the article instead of "de-banking"? Jameson Nightowl (talk) 03:20, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
- Yes! I say, be WP:BOLD! Have at it! Marcus Markup (talk) 12:17, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
- Done - thank you Jameson Nightowl (talk) 03:06, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
Reasons
[edit]It looks like the EU does this for the chilling effect and as punishment of those who contradict mainstream media. If sourced, should this be added to the article? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:11, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
- That sounds noteworthy if reliable sources support it. Jameson Nightowl (talk) 04:21, 5 July 2026 (UTC)
