[edit]I didn't know that deadnaming was a transgender thing. Is that the origin of the term? I first heard the term in relation to Muhammad Ali, who changed his name and religion, but not his gender. Lede image

@Anonymsiy and Organhaver: I don't think this proposed lede image is particularly explanatory. It is unnecessary and a little tone-deaf for Wikipedia articles about discrimination to explain their topics via stick figure comics of someone experiencing a cartoonish version of it (imagine the equivalent for something like racism or ableism). I think an appropriate lead image would be a photograph of a nametag with someone's names and pronouns written on it, or maybe a comic of a less symbolically rendered woman being accidentally misnamed ("Hey Steve, it's been a while!", "[nervous] Oh uh, it's Jane now?", "[embarassed] Oops, sorry! - my image illustrates how it can be done accidentally and purposefully, which is what your proposed thing doesent. My image also illustrates how it can hurt the person inside. Maybe a better image can be chosen, but this one is good for now - anonymsiy.user - (talk) 17:02, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
