It's extremely unlikely DeRay was born in 1982. In fact, he was almost certainly born in the 1960s. He appears in the Jeen-Yuhs documentary listening to Ye's "Through the Wire" in late 2002 or early 2003. He is introduced as a comedian that documentarian Coodie came up with in Chicago. Coodie was born in 1971. Are we supposed to believe DeRay was 20 in the documentary? Are we supposed to believe he was 18 during this 2000 appearance on ''It's Showtime at the Apollo? Are we supposed to believe he was 15 during this 1997 episode of The Jerry Springer Show alongside fellow Chicagoan comedian Corey Holcomb, who was born in circa 1968? This page lists DeRay's birthyear as 1968, which, if not exactly accurate, has to be way more accurate than 1982. Even the commenters dispute DeRay's listed birthyear: "He is not 38,he would have been about 10 when i first saw him do stand up,he's definitely in his early 50ties [sic]." In this video he refuses to give his real age, which indicates that he's much older than he lets on. Again, the comments are from people claiming to have known him as a fully grown and fully established Chicago comic in the 1990s ("Corey [Holcomb] has already stated that Deray lies about his age"). Thus, I propose that his birthyear be changed to "circa 1968." 67.225.70.207 (talk) 02:13, 25 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
