Company name

[edit]

Note that while the company may prefer to spell its name mostly in capital letters, Wikipedia does not follow corporate style, but standard English capitalization. See WP:TRADEMARK, which says, in part:

"Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization rules, even if the trademark owner considers nonstandard formatting "official", as long as this is a style already in widespread use, rather than inventing a new one:
avoid: TIME, KISS, ASUS
instead, use: Time, Kiss, Asus"

Product Description

[edit]

I feel that maybe it would be nice to have a more in depth description of the products offered. For example a price range, or perhaps have some of the flavors that they are most known for.Peachblossoms29 (talk) 02:24, 17 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request for review of sourcing and neutrality in multiple sections, and request for additions.

[edit]

Hello editors,

I am a representative of DAVIDsTEA and I want to disclose that I have a conflict of interest in accordance with Wikipedia’s COI guidelines. I will not edit the article directly and am instead requesting independent review. There are two areas we’d like to be reviewed for removal, and additional information to add to the page.

REQUEST FOR REVIEW

I would like to request review of two items in the “IPO and Board Struggle” section and the “Bankruptcy” sections:

1. “Shareholder TDM Asset Management criticised Herschel Segal's[ZV1] “erratic behaviour””

2. “In August 2025, New York-based lawyer Philip Segal, Herschel's son from his first marriage, called for a change of management at the company in a blogpost, describing an "epic" value destruction and “abysmal corporate governance and management" by his half-sister Sarah Segal (CEO since 2020) and Segal's widow Jane Silverstone Segal, who had been Chair of the company since 2021.”

Concerns:

1. Unverifiable criticism is not significant enough to merit inclusion. The article may be giving disproportionate attention to one opinion. The phrases: "erratic" behaviour and “inability to lead employees” are clearly opinions.

2. A personal blog is a self-published, primary source, not a major business publication. Under Wikipedia's sourcing rules, self-published sources are usually not acceptable for contentious claims about third parties. "epic value destruction" and "abysmal corporate governance" are clearly unverifiable opinions, and without broader context can make the article read like a platform for the criticism.

Additionally, Herschel Segal is no longer a part of the company as he is deceased.

Relevant policies:

- Unverifiable

- Neutral POV

- Undue Weight

- No original research

Request:

Would an independent editor please review whether these two quotes might be removed in accordance with Wikipedia’s policies cited above?

If required, here is a proposed alternative wording that may better reflect the sourcing for convenience:

1. “TDM Asset Management said it sold most of its holdings because of concerns about Segal's leadership and governance.”

The company is a member of the Ethical Tea Partnership, an industry organization focused on improving social and environmental standards in supply chains. (8) Its tea assortment includes products with various certifications, including Organic, Fair Trade Certified, Kosher, and vegan designations.

The company states that it focuses on flavour development and product innovation across its tea blends, including globally sourced and single-origin teas. DavidsTea reports long-term sourcing relationships for certain products, including matcha sourced from the same partners in Japan for over 15 years. (1) Its prepackaged sachets are described as using unbleached cotton strings and containing whole tea leaves rather than fannings.

In June 2023, the company opened a Tea Bar location at its Toronto Eaton Centre store. (1)(2)

The Tea Bar concept reflected the company’s continued emphasis on experiential retail, including in-store beverage service and product sampling.

DavidsTea also resumed limited physical retail activity in the United States through a pop-up collaboration with Lululemon, an activewear retailer, in Boston, Massachusetts. (3)(4) As of February 2026, the company operates 22 retail locations in Canada, with two additional stores confirmed to open in 2026. (4)

The company states that its packaging is designed to be recyclable or compostable, including compostable sachet overwraps and plant-based PLA (Soilon®) mesh tea bags. Its product packaging is described as either recyclable or compostable, and the company has introduced packaging reductions and compostable mailers for certain online orders as part of its waste reduction efforts. (1)(2)(4)(5)(7)
