The Awards section, while apparently factual, is a little misleading. The Linus Pauling Award from the Institute for Functional Medicine, for example, has nothing to do with either Linus Pauling (apart from being named for him) or the well-regarded Linus Pauling Institute; the Institute for Functional Medicine promotes functional medicine, which is "a form of alternative medicine that encompasses many unproven and disproven methods and treatments." Essentially quackery.

Likewise, the National Nutritional Foods Association Clinician Award is from a trade association that represents members of the industry whose foods Perlmutter promotes; not from any independent nutritional organization.

I can't find anything on the Integrative Healthcare Symposium, so can't tell whether it's well-regarded or poorly-regarded; or indeed regarded at all.

As written, though, this section appears to be burnishing Perlmutter's reputation by listing some dubious awards. (I came here to see how well-regarded Perlmutter was, and saw the awards, and thought, huh, okay, maybe he's legit; then I looked into the awards.) I'm not sure what the best way to address this is, without running afoul of WP:NPOV. TJRC (talk) 19:32, 10 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Functional medicine is quackery. I agree that these are not notable awards and the sourcing is very poor. I would support removal of that section. Carrot juice (talk) 21:50, 10 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
