Falklands

Knighthood

Leakey appears to be the first Black Rod in several centuries not to be knighted. Does anyone know why? Robin S. Taylor (talk) 22:46, 11 April 2026 (UTC)

Knighthoods associated with particular posts have become much rarer in the last couple of decades. Previously he would almost certainly have been knighted simply for reaching the rank of lieutenant-general (very few three-star officers weren't). Now there seems to be opposition to granting honours for long, distinguished service in senior positions. Wrongly in my opinion. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:27, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
