The article as it stands makes a number of claims which are not verified by any sources, and one suspects might be considered to be opinion rather than fact even if a source could be found. Eg 'he was something of a "marked man" and many in the Labour leadership were determined to marginalise him' and 'every effort was made to ensure that Hallam and others were not re-elected in 1999'. In 2015 David Hallam graduated from Birmingham University with a Masters of Arts degree in West Midlands History. His dissertation was published in 2018 as "Taking on the Men: the first women parliamentary candidates 1918".

In 2016 he was elected as the West Midlands Representative to the National Members' Council of the Cooperative Group, the UK's largest ethical retailer.https://www.thenews.coop/105780/sector/retail/members-council-elections/

He is researching and campaigning to commemorate the life of Tony O'Connor (1918-2006, Britain's first Black head teacher, who was appointed head of Bearwood Primary School, Smethwick, in 1967.

Style criticisms

• Birth date conspicuously absent - surely it could be found (if it was not withheld) in reference works like Who's Who (publisher Black's), the Birmingham Post Year Book, and in guides to members of the European Parliament during time he was an MEP (the publisher of the latter escapes my memory).
• Birthplace details would also be welcome.
• Infobox wanted in line with other wiki biographies of legislators.
• Summary lead - better trimmed, best left to detail of time as MEP. The other positions given in that paragraph could be put lower in the page as they are of relatively minor importance.
• Publications section - the coverage given to the three books read rather like publisher's blurbs with synoptic information. Normally titles, years of publication and publisher are what are normally given (what might be called a 'big three').
